Happy Birthday… to me!! And to everyone who has a birthday today. Perhaps some of you do, which is awesome.
I turn 28 this year, and I celebrate having my first crowdfunding campaign funded! A Never-Ending Adventure, with art by Vinicius Carreiro, Terri Susca, Amalas Rosa, and Mary Landro, is a reality. I’m excited.
There’s still a chance for you to wish me a Happy Birthday, i.e., support the campaign, so head there NOW!
I chose this date for the campaign end to coincide with a life event, so I ended a phase and started another one. The past seven months have been a learning phase, my entry into the comic book industry by crowdfunding my comic book and presenting as more than a fan and a friend. I’m a creator.
This period came with struggling with getting backers, anxiety when times seemed grim, and happiness when all came together with the help of many people: friends, family, fellow creators, and peers. Crowdfunding is a group effort, and this book was an achievement for the community. It showed me that it believe in me.
The second phase starts now, with the Don’t Push the Red Button production. Seeing that I can make the work is a massive boost of confidence, and having talked to established creators that love my ideas and journey adds to that. This campaign was my dream debut, not because it was perfect (it wasn’t) but because, in the end, it proved to me that I’m a comic book writer. And that’s all that matters.
For the anthology at SDCC, I coordinate with a TOP artist for a variant cover. You will not believe it when you hear it. I have more projects lined up, so this is the first of many goals I will achieve if you guys and the community let me.
Let’s continue writing…
Happy birthday, and congratulations on being funded! So well deserved, what a great present for you.
Happy (belated) birthday!! And congratulations on getting funded! I’m excited for the future of your comics career.
