Let Us In: an Anthology Coming to Kickstarter this October
A slice-of-life anthology including six different stories from over ten professional comic creators!
Lima, Peru – Oscar Osorio is proud to announce the upcoming release of “Let Us In,” a 40+ page anthology of 6 slice-of-life stories.
Let Us In tells the stories of international comic book creators who attempt to break into the US comic book industry. It portrays their struggles, difficulties, hope, and love for the medium, ultimately becoming a reflective love letter to comics.
Oscar Osorio (“A Never-Ending Adventure,” “Don’t Push the Red Button”) teamed up with experienced creators for this first issue. If successful, it could pave the way for multiple volumes and opportunities for more international creators looking to shine.
Oscar tells us how he came up with the idea for “Let Us In”
“One regular afternoon, I posted a reflective Tweet about how people should value international creators, as we have certain difficulties when making comics compared to US locals, all in the context of the American comic book industry. It was a couple of sentences, nothing very detailed or profound. What followed were comments, reposts, and a lengthy discussion on how this was true, with creators sharing their experiences and struggles, some I hadn’t even considered, accompanied by solidarity and love for comics among creators. Despite the negative experiences, everyone coming together and relating to each other, united by their love for comics, was a great look for the community. I was immediately inspired to create a project that highlights these creators, so I put together what, I hope, will be the first of many collaborative experiences between the international comic book community as we attempt to break into the biggest industry in comics.”
The anthology will be available on Kickstarter starting October 15, 2024. It will feature a main cover by Ames Liu and a variant option by the talented Francesca Fantini.
